JOB TITLE: Vice President of Development
LOCATION: Twin Cities Metro

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Vice President of Development is responsible for planning, implementing and supporting friend-raising and fund-raising activities for the organization, including annual campaigns, major gift campaigns, capital/research project campaigns, and planned giving. Creates and implements the strategic plan for the organization’s development income by using donor-centric approaches to major gifts, planned giving and corporate initiatives. Identifies, cultivates, solicits and secures major gifts (in excess of $10,000) from individuals, foundations, corporations and organizations. Creates and implements an overall planned giving program which focuses on strategies and techniques for deferred gifts. Develops and coordinates efforts in the identification and solicitation of grant funding for capacity building and organizational development. Makes and maintains on-going contact with local offices of corporate partners; presenting fundraising alternatives and developing relationships. Maintains a portfolio of approximately 100 constituents. Works closely with CEO, Committee Chairs, staff and the Board of Directors to ensure tight alignment and understanding of development goals, objectives and needs. Supports the Development Committee of the CCRF Board. Works with Board Members and other volunteers in peer-solicitation and relationship building efforts. Partners with marketing team on projects including annual communications. Partners with events team to enhance donor engagement opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned by CEO.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Required:
 Bachelor's Degree (Master’s preferred) from an accredited College or University in management or related field.
 Minimum five (5) years of direct fund-raising management experience in a not-for-profit fundraising organization.
 Experience in fundraising leadership with emphasis on cultivating and soliciting major individual gifts.
 Experience with Board of Directors fundraising engagement.
 Experience with major donor prospects.
 Experience with business plan development and budget preparation.
 Experience supervising personnel.
 Knowledge of community resources and funding sources.
 Knowledge of principles and processes involved in fundraising and organizational planning, coordination, and execution. This includes strategic planning, resource allocation, modeling leadership techniques and production methods.
 Knowledge of an ability to use Microsoft Office software, i.e., WORD, Excel, Power Point.
 Ability to solicit gifts and understand the needs and interests of major donors in order to develop relationships between them and CCRF.
 Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with donors, development staff, CCRF staff, and Board Directors.
 Ability to think creatively and strategically to effectively mediate and negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally.
 Ability to articulate the case for support so that individuals connect with the vision, mission, and goals of CCRF.
 Advanced strategy and planning ability for high level planning, analyzing and problem solving.
 Strong leadership, strategic planning and project management skills.
 Excellent written, communication and interpersonal communication skills and ability to build and manage relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
 Excellent presentation, negotiation and public speaking skills.
 Must be available to work some evenings and weekends.
